One of my favorite ways to work through a novel is by writing the screenplay first. It usually helps me get a sense of who the characters are and how I really need to build the world around them. Once those things have been established, I feel so excited to actually work on the novel and have a great sense of the magic of the particular story I’m working on. The other good part of it is that it doesn’t take nearly so long to write so there is a sense of accomplishment iin the script when I am done.
This particular story is about a woman whose mother dies. The two women have never been on good terms, and now the daughter must come to terms with losing the mother she never knew. Hopefully by the middle of next month, I will have finished the script.
